Setting up a newsletter is one thing. Building a Nurture Sequence that turns curious visitors into loyal clients is another.
In my recent project, the SiteLog Automator, I implemented a 10-day automated flow using MailerLite. In this guide, I'll walk you through exactly how I configured the dashboard to handle lead delivery and educational follow-ups.
Why Automations?
Unlike a standard "Campaign" (a one-off email), an Automation is a workflow that triggers automatically based on a user's action—like joining a group. This ensures that every new lead gets the same high-touch experience without you lifting a finger.
Step 1: The Trigger
Everything starts with a trigger. In MailerLite, go to the Automations tab and create a new workflow.
- Trigger Name:
Lead Magnet: SiteLog Checklist - Workflow Trigger:
When a subscriber joins a group - Group: Your specific lead capture group (e.g., "Field Ops Prospects")
Step 2: The Immediate Reward (Email 1)
The moment someone clicks "Subscribe," they expect their download.
Example Data for Email 1:
- Subject:
📦 Your "No-App" SiteLog Checklist is here - Goal: Deliver the PDF immediately.
- Button Link:
https://yourdomain.com/downloads/your-resource.pdf
Step 3: Strategic Delays
You don't want to spam your leads. Use Delays to space out your messages so you stay top-of-mind without being annoying.
The 10-Day Cadence:
- Immediate: Delivery of the lead magnet.
- Wait 3 Days: Address a common pain point (e.g., "The WhatsApp Trap").
- Wait 4 Days: Share a success story or case study.
- Wait 3 Days: The soft pitch for a consultation or service.
Step 4: Using the Drag-and-Drop Editor
MailerLite's editor is incredibly intuitive. For a professional look, I recommend:
- Clean Branding: A simple logo at the top.
- Rich Text Focus: Avoid overly complex layouts. Plain-text-style emails often feel more personal and have higher engagement rates.
- Clear Call-to-Action (CTA): Every email should have one clear button or link.
Step 5: Testing & Launching
Before you go live, use the "Preview and test" feature. Send a test email to your own inbox to ensure that all links—especially your download links—work perfectly.
Once you're happy, toggle the switch to ON.
Conclusion
A well-configured MailerLite automation is like having a 24/7 sales assistant. It educates your leads, builds authority, and prepares them for a discovery call while you focus on the work that matters.
